People Operations Associate at Wikimedia Foundation

The Wikimedia Foundation is the nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia and our other free knowledge projects. We want to make it easier for everyone to share what they know. To do this, we keep Wikipedia and Wikimedia sites fast, reliable, and available to all. We protect the values and policies that allow free knowledge to thrive. We build new features and tools to make it easy to read, edit, and share from the Wikimedia sites. Above all, we support the communities of volunteers around the world who edit, improve, and add knowledge across Wikimedia projects.

Summary

At the Wikimedia Foundation, we on the Talent & Culture team are committed to supporting our mission-driven and brilliant staff, and we deeply care about improving the lives of our employees. We’re looking for a compassionate and thoughtful human resources professional with an ability to coordinate multiple projects, with an attention to detail and confidentiality, to support the People Operations team and our people processes.

We’d like you to do these things:

Support the hiring and onboarding

  • Prepare onboarding documents and coordinate with the onboarding team for logistics
  • Manage data entry for new employees in the HRIS and various benefit carrier portals
  • Work with the new hires to ensure a supportive and engaging start

Support the People Ops team with staff programs

  • Process verifications of employment
  • Perform systems and intranet maintenance
  • Provide immigration administrative support
  • Assist with administering our wellness program
  • Give general staff support and triage
  • Support operational transactions
  • Maintain data reports
  • Help with ad hoc projects as they arise

We’d like you to have these skills:

  • 2 yrs experience in human resources or related
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with US employment laws
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field

And it would be even more awesome if you have this:

  • Ability to quickly learn organizational culture and internal processes
  • Experience with Namely HRIS
  • Tech aptitude
  • Comfort with Excel and Google suite
  • Someone who is creative with a great sense of humor
