ICT Manager
The job holder will be responsible for the overall management of the ICT function, including developing robust ICT strategy, optimal resource planning, ICT project management, ICT operational excellence and system uptimes.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key responsibilities and activities:-
• Oversee and manage the overall ICT function of the Octagon Africa by ensuring that all ICT resources (People and Non staff) are well planned to provide quality and timely ICT services.
• Participate in and contribute to the overall strategic planning process and ensure overall ICT strategies are embedded and contribute to strategic direction of Octagon Africa.
• Evaluate user needs and system functionality and ensure that ICT facilities meet these needs.
• Guarantee the smooth running of all ICT systems including core Pension application platform, Web Services antivirus software, print services and email provision.
• Configuration, day to day management, integrity, tuning and security of all the Octagon Africa’s relational database management systems.
• Ensure continuous training and development of ICT department staff for their effectiveness and efficiency and thus performance and productivity in the Octagon Africa.
• The design/analysis, development, delivery and ongoing improvement of the Octagon Africa’s databases along ITIL and other best practice standards
• Adherence to internal policies and procedures for the development and management of octagon Africa’s ICT process instances along ITIL and other best practice standards
• Apply knowledge and experience, showing deep understanding of Octagon Africa’s integration architecture to effectively design and integrate new service lifecycle artifacts
• Effective management of relationships and protocols with other technical platform owners and internal business owners, especially within the context of Octagon Africa’s projects and system/process changes
• Anticipate business needs and identify and propose ICT products and services to fulfil those needs.
Qualification and Experience
• University Degree in technology related field – Upper second or equivalent.
• A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience, four (4) of these in ICT management role in a busy, innovative financial services industry.
• Working knowledge of Web based application development using Java enterprise Edition (JEE), PHP and other emerging development tools.
• At least four years’ experience in supporting IT applications, systems and users.
• A deep understanding of windows and Linux operating systems
• At least four years of proven experience in installing, setup, support and troubleshooting modern database systems with at least two years on MS-SQL in a high availability environment
• Thorough experience in formal Software Lifecycle methodology, design and administration of RBMSs.
• Proficiency in project management
