Agile Project ManagerOverview:

This Project Manager/Scrum Master will be part of our mastercard Nairobi Lab team. This team member is responsible for accepting work into the team, defining Stories, and prioritizing the Backlog to manage the execution of program priorities. Incumbent will need to partner with application development teams and other infrastructure teams to build relationships, assist with understanding dependencies on our team, and assist with managing interdependencies with other teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understand feature scope and reviews implementation plan, issues, risks, and dependencies with impacted teams to ensure requirement and timeline completeness and accuracy.
• Develops forecasts for team delivery time lines using team-based metrics including lead/cycle time and Work in Progress (WIP)
• Manages meetings and ceremonies including daily standups, reviews, planning sessions, retrospectives, backlog grooming and work estimation.
• Manages Kanban board to facilitate story movement, understand blocks, and assist with removing blocks when needed.
• Monitors board health and escalates issues before they become an emergency.
• Acts as a team “gatekeeper” to protect team from outside interruptions and backdoor work requests.
• Enables the team to self-organize and helps enforce accountability
• Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• General interest and passion for agile and learning agile practices
• Prior project management experience working with agile teams
• Familiarity with Kanban, the Scaled Agile Framework, Agile, or Scrum processes
• Exposure to agile work management tools such as JIRA
• Scrum certifications would be preferred
• High-energy, detail-oriented, and proactive with the ability to function under pressure in an independent environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong relationship, collaborative and organization skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
