Risk Manager

Airtel Kenya wishes to recruit for the role of Risk Manager. The Risk Manager will be responsible for risk assessment, control, and compliance. This will ensure data security for the company through detailed risk management processes, policies and oversight of the same.

This role reports to the Information Technology Director. Key responsibilities of the role include and are not limited to;

  • Lead the design, documentation, communication and implementation of Airtel’s risk management framework including risk and exposure to cybersecurity.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate risk management policies and proceses including assessment processes and incident handling.
  • Monitor current and emerging risks and exposures and changing laws and regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive company risk registers,
  • In liasion with the Compliance Manager, develop compliance process for all departments in relation to risk management process.
  • Ensure implementation of the cyber and information risk management strategy.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, intergrity and availabilty of data held by the enterprise.
  • Ensure a comprehensive inventory of IT assets, classified by business criticality, is established and maintained.
  • Prepare monthly risk reports indicating significant risk and issues identified or reported in the business in line with the incident management process, and remedial action taken.
  • Facilitate risk forums and training forums for staff and management to ensure all staff and are continously updated on their risks.
  • Develop a unified and intergrated approach to risk management.
  • Quantify the potential impact of risks including cyber attacks and consider the risks that can be insured as a way of transfering risk.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years’ experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit , compliance and governance in telecommunications, consumer or financial services industry or 7 years in external auditing in an audit firms.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology, Risk Management, Internal Audit or a related field from a recognized Institution.
  • Master’s in Business Administration preferred.
  • Project Management skills

The Chief Information Security Officer will be responsible for providing operational support to the IT Director, managing company’s cyber and information technology security risks, ensuring availability, integrity and confidentiality of customer and business information and ensuring compliance to the company’s legal and regulatory requirements.

This role reports to the Information Technology Director. Key responsibilities of the role include and are not limited to;

  • Develop and implement Airtel’s cybersecurity policies and programs.
  • Ensure compliance to the cyber security policies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive cyber asset and user register.
  • Ensure that the cybersecurity strategy addresses the needs of the company, taking into account the overall business strategies, risk appepite and ICT risk management policies.
  • Design cybersecurity controls with the consideration of  both internal and external users.
  • Facilitate proffessional cybersecurity related trainings for staff to improve technical proficiency and awareness for improved cyber hygiene.
  • Ensure that there are adequate process for monitoring IT systems to detect cybersecurity incidents in a timely manner.
  • Report on the assessment of confidentiality, intergrity ,and availability of the information systems.
  • Report on the detailed exceptions on exemptions on policies and procedures.
  • Report on the assessment of the effectiveness of the approved cybersecurity program.
  • Report on all material cybersecurity events that affect the company during the period.
  • Ensure timely update of the incidence reporting mechanism and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) based on the latest cyber threat intelligence gathered.
  • Incorporate the utilization of scenario analysis to consider a material cyber attack, mitigating actions, and identify potential control gaps.
  • Ensure adequate back up of IT systems and data in line with the predetermined recovery objectives (e.g. real time back up of changes made to critical data) .
  • Ensure the roles and responsibilities of managing cyber risks, including in emergency or crisis decision- making, are clearly defined, documented and communicated to relevant staff.
  • Put in place BCP and disaster recovery test plans to ensure that the company can continue to function and meet its regulatory obligations in the event of an unforeseen attack through cyber crime.
  • Assess the overall effectiveness of the cybersecurity program.
  • Periodically report on the company’s cybersecurity posture to senior management, Board and audit committees.

Radio Design Engineer

Airtel Africa wishes to recruit for the role of Radio Design Engineer within the Networks Division. Reporting to the Head Radio planning Design and Optimization, the role holder will lead the Radio architecture planning for the end-to-end Radio Network and ensure robust and high quality and optimum capacity to support various services on the 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The role also involves KPI monitoring and analysis as well as capacity dimensioning and management.

2G

  • Design and propose nominal location for new sites
  • Do the nominal cell plan, site survey and Final cell plan including site design after candidate validation. Design site bands and transmission number/sector based on cell capacity needs.
  • Generate Cell name, Cell ID, parent BSC, LAC, Neighbor list, BCCH/ TCH frequency plan
  •  Validate new sites, calls test and analysis of integration drive test in line with RNP planning
  •  Give recommendations on frequency, handover, RF and BSS parameter changes for optimization.
  •  Analyze pre and post drive-test data for optimized cells.

3G

  • Release of accurate nominal plan for new capacity sites and expansion of existing sites based on given parameters
  •  Manage and coordinate 2G/3G network rollout projects which include availing resources, progress review and ensuring all project reports and documentations are complete and timely.
  •  Nominal Cell planning and documentation for 3G site integration
  •   Parameter definitions and optimization for cell selection and reselection,
  •  Proposing and facilitating the necessary changes aimed at improving the network coverage, capacity and quality.
  •   Overseeing capacity upgrade which includes license upgrades, activating 2nd carrier, increase CE, transmission capacity and proposing new sites.
  •  Responsible for both the site’s Radio Frequency acceptance and QoS
  •     Update the radio related parameters on given platforms designed to streamline the information between the Optimization team, Radio Frequency design team and Operations & Maintenance team.
  •     Analyze Radio Network Survey Reports in order to evaluate if Site candidate is suitable

4G

  •  Optimization, Planning of newly launched eNodeBs, PCI, ECGI , X2  for ANR neighbour
  •   Virtual planning of LTE network based on given tools and link budget calculations for Uplink and Downlink.
  •  Propose 4G upgrades on existing 2G, 3G sites
  •   Analysis of both Worst and degraded cells based on KPIs affecting accessibility, mobility, retention, traffic and throughput
  •   Recommendations on Frequency, handover, RF and BSS parameter changes for optimization.
  •  Processing of pre and post drive-test logs, analysis for single site verification and cluster acceptance.

Technical Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  •   At least 3- 5 years’ work experience on Radio Planning

  •   Drive Test tools – NEMO, TEMS, QVoice Measurement
